Who is Major Sam Carter?
Major Sam Carter is a character from the tv series Stargate SG-1. She is incredibly smart (with a PhD in quantum mechanics), clever, multi-talented (gotta love an astrophysicist who can also pick locks and fix motorcycles), and a kick-ass soldier. She's saved the planet Earth innumerable times, not to mention dozens of other planets and hoardes of aliens. All the while still looking pretty. I was drawn to Sam's character at first because her life has been very much like mine (not counting the bits about aliens and being in the Air Force), and I've really fallen in love with her character as I've continued watching Stargate. Sam just kicks so much ass, you can't help but love her.

Why the title 'Smarter Than You'?
This is from a running gag on Stargate SG-1. Whenever someone (on SG-1) realizes that another person or culture is incredibly above their own, they refer to that person/culture as "Way smarter than me/us/you." Sam's been said to be "way smarter than [someone]" more than once on the show, and I think it sums her up nicely. Besides, I'm not very good at making up titles, so once that popped into my head, I went with it. Hey, it's better than "Holy Hannah!", which was choice number 2. *grin*
